He first learned how to fly helicopters - real ones - as a pilot in the U.S. Military. He started in the R/C world with helicopters, then switched to drones.
Scott Simmie is The Digital Circuit's Executive Editor. An award-winning multi-platform journalist and co-author of three best-selling non-fiction books, he was bitten by the drone bug before the first Phantom was released. He spent about a week building his first tricopter, which he promptly crashed.
